Now that the election is over

-

Congratulations to candidates who emerged winners after the successful conduct of ‘historic 2019 general election’, in both the state and federal government political offices posts, across the Nigeria State.

In spite of the fact that the 2019 general election is best poll Nigeria government has ever conducted since the return of democratic government in 1999, one cannot imagine, especially in our volatile political climate, that election would come and go without recording any unpleasant incidence.

Of course, not few of us strictly adhere to the rule of law, so it is no surprise when some reports surfaced amidst the ongoing polls in both the first phase and second phase of 2019 general election that some hoodlums breached the ‘enshrined law’, by violating electoral process, but they were duly penalized, by security personnel, as ordered by the President.

It is evident that the politics of ‘vote buying’ is over in Nigeria, as electorate largely cast their votes for Buhari, and massively rejected for Atiku. Mercifully, Nigerians have set their feet on the path to decent life.

It is indisputable that Buhari’s integrity won him both first and second term stints in office. But is that what had equally won for the other candidates who vied for public offices on the platform of APC, in both state and federal constituencies? This I doubt, because even this time around the story was still the same, that “one doesn’t need to be popular or possess the cherished track record to contest for certain political office on the platform of APC: once you secured the ticket under the umbrella of APC, you are very likely to win the election of any government position.” We can attest to that in the recent general election results across the whole nation, where majority of the contestants that emerged winners belong to the ruling party (APC). It is called Buhari “Tsunami.” Buhari have carried them along.

It would be recalled that the 8th National Assembly was embarrassing, humiliating and disappointing in the first four-year sojourn of APC led-government. It is hoped that the lawmakers of the 9th National Assembly would cooperate fully and work in synergy with the executive arm of government, to effectively steer the affairs of the ship.

If everything is put in place as required by law, to move the country forward, PMB would bequeath an enduring legacy for the future generations of Nigeria.
