Insecurity: FG not using our reports - AANI

- By Clement A. Oloyede

The Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) has said the missing link in the fight against insecurity in the country is that the federal government has not been using the association’s reports.

AANI is the alumni association of the thinktank National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).

The association’s president, Khaleel Bolaji, while speaking on the sideline of the association’s 39th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the weekend in Abuja, said most of the country’s problems can be solved if projects and conclusion of seminars of NIPSS are looked into.

“We intervene at all times on national issues that we believe will benefit the country but the missing link is that the federal government is not using most of the reports that we have churned out of NIPSS. If they do, I can tell you that this country will be far better. However they (government) promised to be looking at our reports and implementing them,” he said.

However, for former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Dikko Abubakar, who is also a member of the association, the missing link can be bridged when a credible and responsible leadership of AANI figure out ways to partner with the government.

On his part, the current IGP, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, another member of the institute, said AANI has been a pivotal association in reviewing some of the policies of the country and coming up with strategic approach for the implementation.
