Re: Next Senate President: Lest we repeat 2015 mistake

-

Iread with full attention the opinion of one “Nasirudeen Elelu” on the above subject. Suffice to say that all he was trying to say is Sen. Ahmad Lawan isn’t worthy of becoming the Senate president come June 2019.

Let me start by explaining that Sen Lawan has never pushed for anything he has gained in life, he believes in the power of destiny and will of almighty.

Prior to the event of June 2015, Sen Lawan has never asked or lobbied to be the senate president until his colleagues from NW zeroed on him and later the APC with the approval of H.E Muhammadu Buhari chose him to lead the senate, but what happened then is now a lesson for younger politicians and academic purpose.

Subsequently as you pointed out, he remained calm in the Senate, boycotting Media glare so as to allow the will of his colleagues who chose the outgoing SP to prevail which was their right. He isn’t desperate and will never rock the boat.

He was appointed the head Defence Committee for the Senate which he discharged to the best of his ability as a loyal and patriotic servant of Nigeria. While serving his nation he was never seen Escorting anybody to the CCT under any guise or moving a motion or debate against the interest of the party or president.

He became the leader of the Senate also by the decision of his colleagues who realized they need his experience, expertise, discipline and above all dedication to duty which he has since been carrying out unsurprisingly well.

When you say Sen. Lawan supported every move made by The SP to frustrate President Buhari in the 9th paragraph of your write up, I smiled to that, knowing how he ensured the REC of INEC were cleared to ensure we had the just concluded elections, the board of CBN were also cleared after his effort in bringing peace between the two arms of government.

Lastly, I will like to bring to your knowledge that party loyalty which you seem to take for granted isn’t something to joke around with, he has remained on the same path since 1999 till date not because he wasn’t pushed out of ANPP (20082011) at some point or he wasn’t lured to PDP, but he stayed put to show his kind of nature. Whatever your opinion (which is personal) I wish to believe should have been better suited for some other obvious people seeking for power by all means and not Distinguish Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan (Dan Masanin Bade) who by the special grace of God and the approval of his colleagues will be sworn in as the Senate President come June 11, 2019.
