Akwa United stun Heartland as MFM compound Insurance woes

Katsina United defeated visiting Kwara United 1-0 in one of the Match Day 11 matches of the abridged Nigeria Profession­al Football League played yesterday. Martins Usule scored the lone goal in the 13th minute in the match played at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.

Kwara United’s goalkeeper Abdulateef Ishola saved a penalty kick in the 44th minute, denying Katsina Utd the chance of doubling their lead.

It was an entertaini­ng match at the Akure Township Stadium as the game between Sunshine Stars and Enyimba FC ended in a goalless draw.

Enyimba now hold the longest clean sheet in the division without conceding in their last 5 matches.

In Nnewi, IfeanyiUba­h defeated former champions, Kano Pillars by a lone victory.

It was an eventful match as both teams matched each other in all department­s.

At the FCIU Internatio­nal Stadium Ozubulu, Uche Ihuarulam broke the deadlock in the 66th minute with a goal from a rebound.

Philip Auta was the star of the match when Yobe Deserts defeated Go Round by two goals.

Auta scored his first in the 8th minute from the spot, and scored his second goal of the day in the 57th minute following an assist from Jacob Jonathan.

At the Okigwe Township Stadium, rejuvenate­d Akwa United stunned hosts Heartland FC with a 2-1 victory.

Ndifreke Effiong puts the visiting team ahead after Mfon Udoh’s good work to set him up in the 4th minute.

Chidiebere Ajoku put Heartland back in the game in the 57th minute. However Mfon Udoh secured all three points for the away side with a curling shot in the 72th minute.

Results from other matches saw El-Kanemi Warriors and Gombe United played goalless draw, just as MFM defeated Bendel Insurance 2-0. That match between Abia Warriors and Plateau United ended 1-1. Wikki Tourist defeated Rivers United 2-0, while Kada City defeated Nasarawa United 2-1.
