El-Kanemi beat Gombe away, Lobi hold Tornadoes in Minna

El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri and Wikki Tourists of Bauchi won away in the Match Day 12 games of the ongoing Nigeria Profession­al Football League.

While El-Kanemi Warriors defeated host Gombe United 1-0 at the Gombe Township Stadium yesterday, Wikki Tourists humbled host Rivers United 2-1 at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port-Harcourt.

Ageless Isiaka Olawale scored the match winner deep into added time of the Group B clash to secure all the three points for the visitors.

For Wikki, Saidu Abdullahi and Hassan Musa scored in the 16th and 24th minutes respective­ly to grab the three points at stake, while Martin Osy got the consolatio­n for the home team in the 37th minute.

In Uyo, Cyril Olisemah scored a penalty in the 65th minute to grab the maximum points for hosts Akwa United against Heartland FC.

Go Round also defeated Yobe Desert Stars 1-0 through Adeseun Adelani’s strike at the dot of regulation time, while Plateau United also secured a 1-0 win over visiting Abia Warriors at the new Jos Stadium.

Despite losing to Bendel Insurance on Saturday, MFM remain top of Group B table with 22 points from 12 games, and are followed by El-Kanemi with same points from same matches, while FC IfeanyiUba­h are third on the log with 21 points from 11 games.

Go Round FC and Kano Pillars complete the top five in Group B with 18 and 17 points from 12 and 11 games respective­ly.

In Group A, Rangers Internatio­nal FC, who just crashed out of the CASF Confederat­ion Cup pummeled Remo Stars 5-2 with Godwin Aguda scoring a brace, while Ifeanyi George, Ajani Ibrahim and Michael Uchebo completed the routing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium. Remo Stars’ goals were scored by Bright Akojuwewo and Eze Chidera.

Lobi Stars, also out of the CAF Champions League held host Niger Tornadoes to a 2-2 draw at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna. While Mohammed Aliyu was on target for the host in the 37th and 48th minutes, Samad Kadiri scored the two goals for Lobi Stars in the 50th and 62nd minutes of play.

In other matches, Enyimba overcame visiting Sunshine Stars 2-1, just as Kwara United dismissed visiting Katsina United 1-0.
