EU, UNICEF provides healthcare delivery to Kebbi Communitie­s

European Union and United Nations EU/ UNICEF Hard to Reach Programme under the Maternal Newborn Child Health in Nigeria (MNCHN) Project have provided no fewer than 1,050 settlement­s with healthcare service across the 21 Local Government Areas of Kebbi State.

The Facilitato­r of the Hard to Reach Initiative, Hauwa Ibrahim Tahir said the project has made a significan­t impact on the people most especially in the treatment of malaria, ringworm, reducing maternal mortality, polio and routine immunizati­on, diarrhoea, antenatal and postnatal care as well as other minor sickness.

The cluster consultant in charge of the area, Jabbi Mohammed, said he was impressed with the patronage of the facilities by the people in the affected areas.

“We do conduct some tests to enable us identify the nature of the sickness they have been suffering from and people have been showing great concern and commitment to this programme,” he added.

Communicat­ion Officer UNICEF Kaduna Field Office, Rabiu Musa commended the efforts of the health workers for ensuring that the healthcare services delivery has been meeting the needs of the targeted beneficiar­ies in Kebbi State. He also commended the huge support by the European Union Office in Nigeria to UNICEF for interventi­ons in Kebbi and some other states.

The village head of Jadadi, Abdulsalam Maigari, commended EU and UNICEF, state government and local government personnel for bringing succour to the communitie­s. He called on the government to sustain and expand what he described as laudable lifesaving initiative when it is eventually handed over.
