…N3.6bn for Abuja roads

- 10m Nigerians to benefit from TraderMoni — Osinbajo

The Council also approved N3.6bn for the rehabilita­tion of the three roads in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

FCT minister, Mohammad Musa Bello, while briefing newsmen at the end of the meeting, said the council approved the contract for the rehabilita­tion of a 12.6km road from the junction of Gwagwalada on the Abuja/ Lokoja expressway.

He said the contract which was awarded at N1.3bn, has a completion period of eight Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said 10m Nigerians will benefit from the tradermoni and the N-power, in continuati­on of the present administra­tion efforts to invest in the country’s human capital.

Osinbajo in a statement by his media aide, Laolu Akande, said they have continued to make significan­t strides through the National Social Investment Programmes (N-SIP).

He said President Muhammadu Buhari administra­tion’s NSIP, is aimed at empowering Nigerians and improving their livelihood through several initiative­s.

“In the Next Level of the Buhari administra­tion, about 10 million Nigerians are months.

Bello also said the council approved the contract for the provision of infrastruc­ture to the FCT cultural zone at N1.3bn. Describing the project as strategic, he said it has a completion period of nine months.

The third contract approved for the FCT, the minister said, was for the reconstruc­tion of the access road to the lower Usuma Dam at the cost of N1bn. He said the completion period for the project was six months. expected to benefit from the Government Enterprise and Empowermen­t Programme (GEEP) which includes TraderMoni, MarketMoni and FarmerMoni. While the Cash Transfer scheme aims to reach one million poorest households, one million new beneficiar­ies are expected to be added to the N-Power scheme, arguably the largest job creation and youth employment scheme in Africa.

“The administra­tion’s National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP), which has a target of reaching 12 million pupils, is currently feeding over 9.5 million public primary schools (classes 1-3) pupils with one free, balanced and nutritious meal a day in 30 states nationwide; while it has empowered 101,913 cooks in these states,” he said.
