Executive Order 07: Professionals demand responsibility of first line process

The Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN) has called for a procurement support in the Executive Order 07 that will have the responsibility of first line processing of each application vis-à-vis the project cost.

This was part of a resolution issued in a communiqué at the end of the second board meeting of APBN hosted by the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) in Abuja. APBN is the umbrella association of all recognised and chartered institutes, institutions, associations and societies in Nigeria comprising 30 professional bodies.

President of APBN Engr. Olumuyiwa A. Ajibola, who briefed the press on the communiqué, said an executive committee requires a first layer processing that should comprise relevant hardcore professionals both from within and outside the public sector.

He said in order to achieve best results, it is important to plant round pegs in round holes, adding that APBN expects appointment into the Federal Executive Council to comprise talents from professions of relevant knowledge and experience to drive the appropriate organs of government.

APBN said it recognized infrastructure as the ‘critical path’ of the flow chart of activities that will make the economy better and also ensure sustainable growth while a robust strategy must be put in place to engage relevant professionals in charting the roadmap to the attainment of functional infrastructure.

The association however commended the various strategies that the Federal Government is adopting to raise the stakes in the management of the national economy till date.
