300 players register for 2019 IBB Golf Club Captain’s Cup

At least 300 profession­al and amateur golfers in Nigeria have registered to compete in this year’s IBB Golf and Country Club Captain’s Cup which tees off on Friday at the club’s magnificen­t course in Abuja.

Activities to usher in the tournament being staged in honour of the out-going captain of the club, Mr. Oseni Ahmed began on Monday with the Staff and Caddies tournament.

In addition, instead of the usual Wednesday kitty, a special kitty was also staged yesterday in honour of the outgoing captain.

The organisers of the tournament, who addressed a press conference yesterday, disclosed that today will be the turn of 20 male and 4 female profession­al golfers to take to the course to compete for cash prizes and trophies.

According to the organisers, the ceremonial tee-off will hold at 4pm on Friday and will be performed by distinguis­hed guests such as the National Chairman of the All Progressiv­es Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, former governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Wada Idris, former Senate President, David Alechenu Mark and other golf enthusiast­s.

The main event which will be played based on the shotgun format to accommodat­e over 300 golfers would be staged on Saturday.

Organisers said the Captain’s Cup tournament will then climax with a dinner and prizes presentati­on at the club house beginning from 7pm on Saturday, April 20.

The outgoing chairman said he was extremely happy to be honoured with the tournament.
