200,000 traders benefit from Tradermoni in Kano
Former Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Investment Programmes, Barrister Isma’eel Ahmed, yesterday revealed that over 200,000 people in Kano State have benefited from the Federal Government’s loan programme for petty traders and artisans across the nation tagged ‘Tradermoni’.
Speaking during the Tarauni Market Tradermoni distribution campaign in Kano State, Barr. Isma’eel revealed that the programme, which is part of the Government Enterprises and Empowerment (GEE) scheme being executed by the Bank of Industry, has tremendously changed the lives of a lot of traders in the state.
He added that the programme will continue as many traders and artisans have been committed to paying back in order to increase their access to higher loan sums.
Speaking on behalf of BOI, GEE Chief Operating Officer Mr. Uzoma Nwagba, called on all beneficiaries to be committed in paying back as that will increase their chances of accessing higher loan and also allow them to expand their businesses.
Similarly, the chairman of Tarauni Market Traders Association, Malam Sulaimanu Musa, urged all beneficiaries to use the loan judicially as a means of encouraging the well-meaning Federal Government’s effort in empowering the less privileged business communities across the country.
He stressed that it was very important for the traders to understand that the Tradermoni scheme is not a free money scheme.
