I’ll never leave APC – Sokoto Speaker

- From Abubakar Auwal, Sokoto

Speaker , Sokoto State House of Assembly, Alhaji Aminu Achida (APC-Wurno), has for the first time spoken on his relationship with leaders of his party since the dramatic twist that took him to that position.

Achida emerged speaker of the 9th Assembly against the wishes of his party after getting the support of all the 14 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He defeated Abdullahi Garba Sidi (APCGwadabawa) who was officially nominated by the party for the position.

Responding to questions by Caliphate Trust reporter, he said that he was not aware of any soar relationship between him and the leaders of his party.

“As far as I know I don’t have any issue with my party or its leaders. After my emergence, the party wrote to congratulate me and I was at the residence of the chairman of the party who assured me of their support just as I promised them that I will not betray the party,” he said.

While reaffirming his loyalty to APC, Achida said he would never leave the party because it was the one that brought him to the Assembly.

“APC is my party and I will never leave it,” he reiterated.

The speaker, however, refused to answer questions on his romance with the ruling PDP in the state.

He assured the people of the state that they would collectively work for the betterment of the people irrespective of their political differences.

“It is not time of politics now. Politics is over. We will now concentrate on making legislation that would lead to the overall development of our dear state,” he stated

Achida added: “Our state is faced with a lot of challenges like insecurity, the rot in the education sector among others. So we will give the executive arm all the necessary support to address those challenges.”

He promised to be just and fair to all members of the House.
