Motorcyclists in Kebbi get Oct 2 deadline to obtain number plate, driver license
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kebbi State has asked commercial motorcyclists and tricyclists operating in the state to acquire number plates and drivers licences before October 2, 2019.
The Sector Commander, FRSC in the state, Mr Abayomi Asaniya told our correspondent in Birnin Kebbi that the August 1, 2019 date earlier scheduled for enforcement had been postponed to October 3.
He said: “We are informing the general public, particularly motorcycle and tricycle owners in the state that the enforcement of number plates and licenses, scheduled to commence on August 1, 2019, has been postponed to October 2, 2019. They should therefore, take advantage of this postponement to process and acquire their number plates and licenses before the new date.”
He enjoined them to learn to do the right thing without having to be compelled by traffic officials.
In his reaction to the FRSC mandate, the state chairman of the Motorcycles Riders Association, Alhaji Nafi’u Zaki, said his members are law abiding.
“You could hardly see our members without number plates on their vehicles,’’ he said.
He assured the FRSC of their support in ensuring the successful enforcement of the number plates and drivers’ licenses in the state.
“The enforcement by the FRSC was a good move and right thing to do. I see no reason why someone can buy a motorcycle of N230, 000 but fail to buy a number plate which only costs N7,500,” he said.
The chairman also called on the members to always carry their drivers’ license with them and adhere to driving rules and regulations.
