The FCT football coaches association on Monday, July 29 decorated the chairman of Bwari Area Council, Hon. John Shekwogaza Gabaya as one of the patrons of the association.

In addition, a novelty football match to spice up the well attended investiture was played between the FCT Coaches selected side and football coaches in Bwari Area Council with the former winning by 1-0.

The coaches also unveiled the master plan for the Abuja football village to be sited in Bwari Area Council.

The chairman of the FCT Football coaches, Godwin Bamigboye said the decision to honour the chairman was necessitated by the need to celebrate his victory at the Area Council polls, his emergence as 2nd vice-chairman of the FCT FA as well as his enormous contributions to sports, particularly football. Decorating Gabaya on behalf of the coaches, the FCT FA Chairman Adam Mouktar Mohammed described him as a worthy ally.

He said “I am honoured to be here because my friend, my partner, a man who has distinguished himself is being honoured. We must give honour to whom it is due.

“The Abuja Football Village is a noble project that will grow football and will be situated in Bwari Area Council. By the grace of God Bwari will lead the way for football in the FCT,” said Mohammed.

Responding, Hon. Gabaya said “I want to appreciate everyone here. You left all other things to be here to honour me. You have shown me love. God will honour you all.

“I am talk and do. When I say I will do something, I make sure I do it. By the grace of God football in Bwari Area Council will continue to grow.

“I want to assure the FCT Coaches and the FA that Bwari Area Council will give all the necessary support for the actualization of the Abuja Football village.”
