FG please complete Okpella abandoned water project

-

The Federal Government of Nigeria should take necessary measures without further delay to complete the over one billion naira (N1bn) abandoned water project in Okpella community, Edo State.

The Union is also calling on the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and the Inspector-General of Police, not to relent in the fight against incessant killings in Okpella and the neighboring communities as a result of cultism and other anti-social vices amongst the youths, as we wish to stress that the menace is bringing negative developments to the area.

We also task the Okpella Traditional Council to eschew all forms of bitterness and adopt a fair and peaceful approach in the selection of a successor to fill the vacant stool of Okwokpellagbe of Okpella.

We wish to express our shock over the abandoned water project that was awarded by the defunct PTF, and call on State and Local Governments as well as the companies operating in Okpella to assist the community with a General Hospital, Tertiary Institution, good roads and creation of employments for youths to reduce the ugly trend and encourage sustainable development in the community.

OPU charges the sons and daughters of Okpella, irrespective of their political differences, to come together to develop Okpella, and we wish to also stress that if the issues militating the unity and progress of the community were not quickly addressed, they may discourage investors from expanding their huge investments in Okpella, or forcing them to quit their already established operations with its attendant consequences.

Mr. Abednigo Imiagbedion, President, Northern Congress of Okpella Progressive Union (OPU)
