Foundation disburses N8.3 million scholarship to 314 students
A Bauchi based foundation, Nura Manu Foundation, has disbursed N8.3 million to 314 Bauchi State indigenes studying in different tertiary institutions.
The disbursement was in line with the objectives of the Foundation to help less privileged students in the state to pay registration and tuition fees.
Speaking on the disbursement, the founder, Alhaji Nura Manu Soro disclosed that the N8.3 million was the first phase of the programme which started in May 2019.
He said that the beneficiaries were selected from the students of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic Bauchi, Bauchi State University Gadau and Federal Polytechnic Bauchi.
Soro disclosed that, they will continue with subsequent phases of the distribution to help less privileged students in the state.
He added that Foundation would form a scholarship screening committee that will have representatives from the traditional institutions, Islamic, primary and secondary schools as well as tertiary institutions that will select the beneficiaries.
The President, National Union of Bauchi State Students (NUBASS), Comrade Ibrahim Hashim Abdullahi said the gesture has brought succour to the less privileged students who benefited from the assistance.
The Foundation, which was founded by a Bauchi businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Nura Manu Soro, had a take-off budget of N100 million.
