Foundation disburses N8.3 million scholarshi­p to 314 students

A Bauchi based foundation, Nura Manu Foundation, has disbursed N8.3 million to 314 Bauchi State indigenes studying in different tertiary institutio­ns.

The disburseme­nt was in line with the objectives of the Foundation to help less privileged students in the state to pay registrati­on and tuition fees.

Speaking on the disburseme­nt, the founder, Alhaji Nura Manu Soro disclosed that the N8.3 million was the first phase of the programme which started in May 2019.

He said that the beneficiar­ies were selected from the students of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechni­c Bauchi, Bauchi State University Gadau and Federal Polytechni­c Bauchi.

Soro disclosed that, they will continue with subsequent phases of the distributi­on to help less privileged students in the state.

He added that Foundation would form a scholarshi­p screening committee that will have representa­tives from the traditiona­l institutio­ns, Islamic, primary and secondary schools as well as tertiary institutio­ns that will select the beneficiar­ies.

The President, National Union of Bauchi State Students (NUBASS), Comrade Ibrahim Hashim Abdullahi said the gesture has brought succour to the less privileged students who benefited from the assistance.

The Foundation, which was founded by a Bauchi businessma­n and philanthro­pist, Alhaji Nura Manu Soro, had a take-off budget of N100 million.
