Police arrest 'chief executione­r' on his way to kill rival - cultist

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested and held in its custody a suspected notorious cultist Biodun Adelokun for alleged plan to eliminate a rival cult member in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.

It was learnt that the suspect was arrested by policemen attached to Ogijo Division while "on his way to eliminate a member of rival cult member in the area."

A statement issued on Sunday in Abeokuta by the Police Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the operatives on patrol led by the DPO, Muhammed Baba had accosted three men on Bajaj motorcycle with registrati­on number KJA 778 QH at Fakale Road in Ogijo.

Oyeyemi said the three men on sighting the policemen, took to their heels but they were chased by the policemen and one of them arrested with a bag.

According to him, when the police operatives searched the bag, it contained a locally made cut to size pistol, a live cartridge, an axe and assorted charms.

Oyeyemi quoted the suspect to have confessed that he is the Chief execution of the Aiye cult group and they (three of them) were on a mission to eliminate a member of another cult group.

"On interrogat­ion, the suspect confessed been a member of the dreaded Aiye cult group and the chief executione­r of his group. He stated further that he was on his way with two others to eliminate a member of another cult group who has been earmarked for execution by his own group before he was arrested by the DPO and his men," the Police Spokesman said.

Oyeyemi, however, added that the Commission­er of Police, Bashir Makama has ordered for a massive manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang as well as thorough investigat­ion of the case.
