NGO enrolls 50 children for early education in Taraba

A non-government­al organizati­on, Touch a Heart Social and Economic Right Initiative, has enrolled 50 in two wards in Ardo Kola local government area, Taraba state into early childhood care developmen­t programme.

Under the programme the children were provided with basic learning aids that will make learning very easy for them.

The children came from Bakin Dutse and Sunkani wards

The NGO also establishe­d a management committee to manage and sustain the programme.

The Executive Director of the NGO Dr Grace Dafiel told North-East Trust that the programme was initiated with the aim of making children to have access to education at an early age. She said the programme is being funded by T.Y.Danjuma Foundation.

According to her, basic teaching and learning aids as well as conducive atmosphere is provided in the two centers that keep the children busy all the time.

Dr Dafiel further told North _East Trust that under the programme a committee was also establishe­d for the training of care givers and resource mobilizati­on as well as training on health and nutrition.

She commended the foundation for funding the programme saying that it will help in improving quality of education among children especially in the rural areas.

Dr Dafiel also expressed satisfacti­on over cooperatio­n and support by the parents of the children whom she said ensure regular school attendance by their wards.

The Village Head of Sunkani Malam Muhammed Kumo, who spoke on behalf of the parents, also commended the NGO for sponsoring the programme.
