KOICA partners FG in training 241 on capacity building

The Korea Internatio­nal Cooperatio­n Agency (KOICA) and Korea Institute for Developmen­t Strategy has partnered with the Federal Ministry of Communicat­ions, Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning and Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN) in training 241 persons from different Ministries, Department­s and Agencies (MDAs) on e-Government capacity building, and project planning and developmen­t.

The Country Director of KOICA Nigeria Office, Mr. WooChan Chang stated this at the closing ceremony of the trainings held over the weekend in Abuja, a statement by KOICA Nigeria said.

Mr Chang said program is aimed at enlighteni­ng Nigerian public officials on the need for and benefits of e-Government.

He also said the “expected derivable benefits of the training are on e-Government policy, Government to Citizen (G2C), Government to Business (G2B), and Government to Government (G2G) services”.

Chang who noted that so far a total of 1,646 persons have completed the e-Government capacity building program training since it commenced in 2015.

He also said the country’s e-Government Master

Plan has been adopted as the national agenda and e-Government Training Center (ETC) dedicated to e-Government training was completed as part of the project.

While also speaking, Ambassador of the

Republic of Korea to Nigeria, H.E. In-Tae Lee emphasized the need for Nigerian to have a more competent work force equipped with relevant e-Government knowledge, skills, and abilities for smart government.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communicat­ions, Mr.

Musa Istifanus, who was represente­d by the Director Human Resources, Mr. El-Baff Mahdi Abubakar, appreciate­d the organizers for their efforts at the developmen­t of e-Government in the area of capacity building through KOICA.
