- By John Chuks Azu

Former Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa, Ambassador Shehu Malami has congratulated accounting guru, Chief Akintola Williams on his 100th birthday.

In a statement dated 12th August, 2019 which he personally signed, Malami said Chief Willams is one of his first contacts in the corporate world when he joined the Board of some prominent companies.

According to him, the companies include: Costain West Africa Ltd with Sir Odumegwu Ojukwu; Barclays Bank with Musa Dagash; Paterson Zochonis (PZ) and French Nigeria Technip Company, among other companies which he said benefitted from Akintola Williams and Co.

“I was subsequently to meet the irrepressible Rotimi Williams ‘Timi the Law’, my chairman of the Constitutional Drafting Committee of 49 wisemen with T.Y. Danjuma in the Governing Council of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka,” he said.

“I sometimes brag to friends that I am the only Nigerian that can boast of the privilege and honour of having such celebrities on my Board of Directors.

“I invited Chief Rotimi Williams and Chief Jerome Udoji, chairman of the never forgotten salary awards, leading to your appointment as chairman of the Public Service Review Panel in 1975 to correct the anomalies of the Udoji Commission.”

He recalled that after Shehu Shagari joined them on the Board of French Nigeria Technip Company, they all celebrated his election as President and Commander in Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces in 1979 at the P.Z. International Headquarters in Manchester, England.
