Kogi gov’ship: Faleke backs Bello’s second term bid
Ahead of the November governorship election in Kogi State, Governor Yahaya Bello, yesterday received Honourable James Faleke in Abuja.
Pictures of Faleke and Bello, together with his running mate, Edward Onoja, taken together in Abuja, had gone viral earlier yesterday.
Faleke was the running mate of the All Progressives Congress’ governorship candidate for the November 21, 2015 election, Audu Abubakar, who died after the conclusion of the first round of the poll.
The APC substituted Bello as its gubernatorial candidate and retained Faleke as its deputy gubernatorial candidate.
The party later went into the supplementary poll conducted in 91 polling units of the state on December 5, 2015, with Bello as its gubernatorial candidate, who was eventually declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission on the strength of the cumulative votes polled in both elections.
Faleke challenged Bello’s election in court, to no avail.
In a statement yesterday, Bello’s Chief Press Secretary, Onugwu Muhammed, said his boss met with Faleke as part of the APC’s efforts to record overwhelming victory at the forthcoming gubernatorial election. He said during the meeting, Bello and Faleke discussed strategies to adopt for the election.
Muhammed said the meeting also served as an opportunity to engender more collaboration among the party supporters for the purpose of the election.
He said the meeting was also attended the governor’s chief of staff and running mate, Edward Onoja.
