..woos private sector for investment in solar panels

The Federal Government is working towards establishi­ng medical rehabilita­tion centres across the geo political zones of the country.

Registrar of the Medical Rehabilita­tion Therapist Registrati­on Board of Nigeria, Mrs Akanle Olufunke, disclosed this during the internatio­nal conference of medical rehabilita­tion profession­als in Abuja.

She said experts were still working on the framework of the centres to achieve set objectives.

Akanle said there were still aspects of medical rehabilita­tion that Nigeria was yet to achieve, adding that persons living with disabiliti­es in the country were in dire The Federal Government has called on the private sector to invest in the production of solar panels to solve the lingering electricit­y power problem in Nigeria.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnayya Onu, made the call while inaugurati­ng an inter-ministeria­l committee on the utilizatio­n of renewable energy in Abuja at the weekend.

Onu said one of the agencies of the ministry, the National Agency for Science and Engineerin­g Infrastruc­ture had started the production of solar panels at experiment­al level in Karshi, Abuja.

The private sector, he added, could reap maximum benefits by investing and partnering with NASENI.

The production of solar panels would create wealth, job opportunit­ies and alleviate poverty, the minister added.

He said the ministry would continue to intensify research on the solar panels in order to reduce its cost and make them affordable to all Nigerians.
