Police arrest 6 over abduction of 3-year-old neighbour in Mararaba

- By Adam Umar

A team of police detectives from the FCT police command has rescued a three-year-old boy abducted by his neighbour along with five other accomplices.

Aso Chronicle gathered the police detectives arrested the mastermind of the kidnap few hours after the incident which happened at Unguwar Sabongari area of Mararaba, Nasarawa State, near Abuja.

Narrating the incident to our reporter, father of the victim, Malam Musa Usman, said his son Ahmad, 3, was earlier taken from his home along with some of his siblings by one Muhammed, to a neighbourhood mosque to attend the Muslim sunset prayer.

“But when my other children returned, Ahmed was nowhere to be seen, so the issue was reported to me.”

He said he had instructed that if Muhammed was seen, he should be told to come straight to him (Usman), which he (Muhammed) did and joined the family members in searching for the missing Ahmad.

“The matter was reported to the police division at Mararaba where it was advised that he should not be detained, but rather be monitored closely in order not to endanger the life of my son, which we adhered to.

“Then an idea to report the matter to the CID department of the FCT police command came to our mind. The contact number of the gang leader who demanded for N20 million ransom was hidden in my communication with him. But the police decrypted the number and discovered that Muhammed’s number communicated with that of the hidden number, over 40 times.

“They eventually came down to our area where he was located somewhere. He thereafter took us to Ado, another town near Mararaba where four other suspects were arrested, and my son was rescued safely from them, he added.

“It was gathered that the sixth person was a shopkeeper, where Muhammed kept his phone, and stayed incommunicado,” he said.
