Many farmers, agricultural entrepreneurs and technology developers are currently exhibiting their products and services at the ongoing national agricultural show at the outskirts of Abuja.

This year’s event which is the 11th in the series of the annual show and exhibition brings together the critical stakeholders in the sector.

Governor Sule Abdullahi of Nasarawa State, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Sabo Nanono, Senator Abdullahi along with the Emirs of Lafia, Keffi and other top government functionaries were on ground for the event.

Several commodities associations, research institutes, donor partners, small and large scale farmers are showcasing what they have in their stocks while networking and building partnerships in the sector.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who was represented by the Agriculture, and Rural Development, Minister, Alhaji Mobammed Sabo Nanono, said his administration would work even harder to create wealth for the people of the country through agriculture in view of the declining revenue.

He said government would continue to pursue programmes and policies that would strengthen agricultural production to achieve self-sufficiency and food security for Nigeria.

Earlier, Governor Sule in his speech, applauded President Buhar’s drive to achieve import substitution and backward integration.

Engineer Sule said the state recently signed an MoU with Azman Group, for a 12,400 hectares of land for rice development in Toto local government area.

He also said the state would soon sign an MoU with Flour Mills of Nigeria for 10,000 hectares of cassava farming and production, adding that the state government put in place machinery for empowerment with a plan to access the N1.5 billion from CBN, which is in tandem with the theme of this year’s show “Enhancing youth participation in agriculture value chain.”
