Kaduna Electric sponsors, employs 30 students

The Managing Director/CEO of Kaduna Electric, Engineer Garba Haruna, has announced the award of scholarshi­p to 10 best graduating students of Government Technical College, Farfaru, Sokoto as well as employment opportunit­ies to 20 others who have a minimum of National Diploma in any technical discipline.

He made the announceme­nt during the grand finale of activities commemorat­ing the 61st anniversar­y of the school, saying that the scholarshi­p covered tuition fees and maintenanc­e allowance for the students throughout their university education.

He also commission­ed the woodwork department of the College to produce 300 tables and chairs to be distribute­d to secondary schools in need within the company’s franchise.

While urging those honoured at the occasion to see the awards “as a call to greater national service,” he appealed to old boys to always support their alma mater.

Yabo, commended the gesture which he described as “abiding commitment to the developmen­t of education in the country.”

He however urged other well-meaning members of the society to emulate the gesture and advised the school authority to ensure judicious use of the facilities provided by their old boys.

Meanwhile, the elated students presented plaque and furniture made by them to the KEDCO MD/CEO,Engr. Haruna to appreciate his support to the college and to the less privileged in the society.
