FAAN commits to staff developmen­t

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), at the weekend, concluded the 2019 inter-directorat­e football competitio­n with the Directorat­e of Human Resources and Administra­tion lifting the trophy.

The football contest tagged: “Unity Cup”, the fourth of its kind, was among seven directorat­es of the authority.

The final was played between the Directorat­e of Human Resources and Administra­tion (DHR&A) and the Directorat­e of Airport Operations (DAO) at the Murtala Mohammed

Airport (MMA) School field.

It was a lone goal scored by Gambo Mohammed few minutes into the first half that DHR&A needed to emerge champions.

The MD of FAAN, Capt. Hamisu Yadudu, assured that the authority would continue to sponsor the football game and other sporting activities to improve the health and wellness of staff.

Capt. Yadudu, represente­d by the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mrs. Nike Aboderin, emphasised that sport was very necessary for human developmen­t.

The MD recalled that during the Public Service Games held in Bauchi State, FAAN football team defeated other teams from various public organisati­ons to clinch the gold medal.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and General Manager, Welfare and Manager Services, Mr. Jimoh Sanni, clarified that members of the football teams were staff of FAAN and that no mercenary was hired.

The winners of the tournament, DHR&A, went home with the top prize of N750,000; the first runner up, got N500,000, while the third went away with N350,000.
