The newly appointed Kano state Commissioner for Housing and Transport, Barrister Musa Abdullahi Lawan, has stated his commitment to providing more affordable houses in the state.

The Commissioner disclosed this to journalists yesterday shortly after his assumption in office, saying he would work in line with Governor Ganduje’s policies which were aimed at the improving the lives of the citizens of the state.

“We will make sure that we fix all the problems of our existing estates here in Kano and ensure that we give life to these estates and build more affordable houses.

“This state is blessed with vast land and there are investors who are willing to invest in the area of estates, we will therefore give them the enabling environment to invest,” he said.

He also promised to sanitize the transportation system in the state going by the cosmopolitan nature of Kano, adding that the current transportation system was not befitting the state.

“We will look into the possibility of establishing Uniform Transportation System in line with the modern transportation system in other developed countries and that will ease free traffic flow in the metropolis,” he maintained.

In his welcome address, the Director Admin and General Services of the Ministry, Alhaji Ibrahim Zubairu Danbatta, promised to give the new commissioner all the necessary support and cooperation he required to discharge his responsibilities successfully.
