Corps members shine at Unity bank’s business challenge
Unity Bank Plc has rewarded three corps members who participated at the recent corprenueurship challenge with cash prizes to promote their businesses.
Ifedayo Adeniji won the first prize of N500,000 to promote his business jn fishery, Peace Okiri won the second prize of N300,000 to enhance her poultry business while Eunice Ogunrinde won the third price of N200,000 to promote her mobile app tutor business.
Adeniji serving in the FCT said he loves the fishery business but he did not have enough fund to commence the business so he decided to partake in the challenge.
Okiri who is also serving in the FCT said her business plan was to produce day old chicks in the agro sector. “I have been in poultry business for some time and I realised that the demand for day old chicks exceed the supply. So I want to bridge the gap between the demand and the supply.”
Another FCT corps member, Eunice Ogunrinde said she wants to develop her app called better tutor which is in the market already. With the money, she will recruit tutors on the application who would prepare students for their West African Examination (WAEC).
The bank’s head, Personal and SME banking, Opeyemi Ojesina said the challenge was towards entrepreneurship development and nation building where the passion of the younger people are harnessed.
He said a capacity building programme where corps members were trained in hiring and marketing after which they were asked to develop business plans and a lot of applications came in but the best 10 were selected.
