Disquiet over incorporation of Valuers’ society

- From Sunday Michael Ogwu, Lagos

The Society for Professional Valuation (SPV) has described the registration of a new association by members of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) as vindictiveness against members of its Trustees

Some dissatisfied members of NIESV recently went to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and registered the society of Valuers. NIESV has since suspended the promoters of SPV and has undertaken advertorials to discredit the new body.

Chairman Board of Trustees of SPV, Otunba Sola Enitan in a briefing said the action by NIESV seeks to destroy the personal and professional character/reputation of the Trustees.

He noted that its Trustees are of implicitly good professional character, academically and occupationally putting professional ethics and high integrity above all, which has brought a variance of ideology with NIESV Council membership.

He said: "The honourable gentlemen merely insisted on strict adherence to constitutionality, cessation of relentless, pervasive covered up fraud and stoppage of conversion of assets within the organisation.”

He called on the general public to disregard entirely, the publication of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers NIESV as no iota of truth is contained in the publication nor any misconduct ever committed professionally by its said Trustees throughout their professional career spanning over 3 decades.
