FRSC, NUJ collaborate to enlighten public on traffic rules
The Federal Roads Safety Corps ( FRSC), Kebbi State Command, is to collaborate with the chapter of Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) in the state to enlighten public on traffic rules and regulations.
The Command’s Public Education and Englightment Officer, Mr. Uko Okore Uko while interacting with journalist at the NUJ Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi said the measure was to reduce the high rate of road accidents in the state.
“Journalists are important partners in the campaign against road accidents and safety of passengers we seek your cooperation and support in our campaign to reduce roads accidents in the state”, he said.
He said the ember months were here and people would be traveling by road and there was need for public campaign and awareness to reduce accidents on our roads.
“We are here to bridge the gap and synergise with NUJ to save lives on our roads through public awareness campaign in the media,” he said.
He said accidents were caused by weather and mechanical factors, however, human factor constitutes highest factor in road accidents claiming human lives and properties.
He stated that the command would clampdown on traffic offenders, drivers without number plates and those without drivers licenses.
Earlier, the Vice Chairman of NUJ in the State, Nura Tanko Wakili, commended the FRSC officials promising that the journalists in the state would work towards changing attitude of its members and public on traffic offenses.
