National body of Matasan Arewa Association of Nigeria has called on all northern state governments to adopt preventive measures against the prevalence of kidnapping of children that is prevalent in the region.

The call was made by the association’s chairman, Comrade Muhammad Usamat Suleiman, during the inauguration of the executives of the Kano state chapter.

According to him, the recorded incidents and the unveiling issues associated with the kidnapping of children was disturbing adding that there was a need for authorities to address the issue for peaceful coexistence among the different ethnic groups in the nation to prevail.

“This issue has been worrisome as it poses a threat to the national unity, and as a youth association we deemed it fit to draw the attention of all state governments to adopt a preventive measure that will put an end to this act.

“We must commend Kano state government for the efforts it made in addressing the situation. We want to use this opportunity to call on all states to emulate Kano state’s approach to the issue for effective measures to be taken,” he said.

Earlier in his address, Kano state chairman of Nigerian Union of Journalist, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim, called for unity among youths for a better tomorrow.

During the event Suleiman Gambo Abdulkadir was inaugurated as state chairman of the association while Mubashshir Lawan Muhammad was sworn in as the secretary.
