Minister laments building materials quality

The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has challenged Nigerian builders to come up with building constructi­on innovation that would not only stand the test of time but would also be suitable for the tropical weather conditions in Nigeria.

The Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) has concluded arrangemen­ts to digitise housing constructi­on with a view to checkmatin­g building collapse in the country.

To this end, the body consisting of seven profession­als in the industry announced it has opened up a window of collaborat­ion with AUTODESK and BIM Africa to build capacity of builders to be BIM-ready.

The Federal Government is ready to partner with the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), on how to strengthen the policy framework for the developmen­t of the country.

Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemek­a Nwajiuba, disclosed this at the 59th annual general meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) with the theme: “2030 & Nigerian Architectu­re: Goals, Gaps for Nigerian weather conditions.
