I was Nigeria’s football first effigy - Ogunjimi
The President of Authentic Nigeria football supporters club, Ogunjimi Abayomi has stated that he is the first mascot of Nigeria football which is called is effigy.
Speaking with Daily Trust, Ogunjimi said his passion for football led him to become a mascot and later emerging as the leader of the over 20,000 members.
“It is not an easy task. I went through the rank and file. I was the first mascot of Nigeria football which is called is effigy. I will stand for many hours because of my passion for football,” he said.
He also stated that failure of the football teams to qualify for Olympic Games will not affect the activities of the group.
“The truth is that it is not a good one for the football house in general. Authentic Nigeria football supporters club is beyond going to stadium and clap.
“We empower youths and there are lots of activities we do. In as much as we are not going to the Olympics, it does not stop the programs of the club,” he said.
Speaking further, he revealed that the group under his leadership is setting up a musical group.
“We are putting up a musical school and it is still in the process. It is not easy to fund the club locally and how much more on the international stage. I’m doing this single handedly as it is not a simple task for me.
“We are trending and it is because of what we have done and doing. It is a selfless service. We are trying hard to put that school in place and by next year, we will unveil the Authentic Nigeria football supporters’ club musical school.
