- By Umar Shehu Usman

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP SDGs) is set to partner the National Youth Service Corps to train 1.2 million corps members nationwide within two years to boost attainment of the SDGs 2030 Agenda.

The SSA, Princess Adejoke Orelope Adefulire, stated this when she launched the SDGs “World Largest Lesson Nigeria: Activating Families and Communities for the Sustainable Development Goals,” in Abuja.

On the race towards achieving the SDGs 2030 agenda, she noted that the programme introduced to the young youth corps members would equip them to achieve their goals and objectives in life, adding that it would curb unemployment in the country.

“So, we have that programme on understanding, partnership, training and retraining of the youth corps members.”

“We are to mobilise 1.2 million corps members in 10 years. I say that can be done in two years; anything that we can do, working with ministries, agencies to ensure we reduce poverty to the barest minimum to achieve sustainable development,” she said.

In the same vein, Princess Adefulire said that “for those that have no education, no skills, there are different programmes for them. We will continue to pursue that to the best of our ability.

“We must join hands with the president of Nigeria who has pledged that in 10 years, 100 million people will get out of poverty.”

Daily Trust reports that the SDGs Goal 8 stands for decent work and economic growth.
