...Why we waded into Ganduje, Sanusi feud — Adamu Fika
An elder statesman and Wazirin Fika, Alhaji Adamu Fika, disclosed yesterday that the committee led by retired General Abdulsalami Abubakar waded into the lingering crisis between Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and the Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II to salvage the image of Kano State and the northern region as a whole.
In a telephone conversation with our correspondent, he said the committee was set up to proffer lasting solution to the lingering crisis, noting that the misunderstanding between the two leaders was not good for ancient city of Kano, the northern region, and Nigeria as a nation.
A statement earlier signed by the Wazirin Fika, listed Alhaji Adamu Fika, General Muhammadu Inuwa Wushishi (rtd), Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim, Dr Dalhatu Sarki Tafida, Dr Umaru Mutallab, Professor Ibrahim Gambari and Sheikh Sharif Ibrahim Saleh as members of the committee.
The statement further noted that Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’
Forum, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, and Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State are also members of the committee.
It also disclosed that initial contact has been established with the governor and the emir, and that the two parties have agreed to halt further actions, and call on their supporters and sympathizers including social media operators, to refrain from making statements, declarations, songs, articles, blogs and actions inimical to the spirit of reconciliation and good governance.
