Yobe to provide inclusive health care services to residents
The newly appointed Executive Secretary for Yobe Contributory Health Care Management Agency, Dr Babagana Tijjani, said residents would soon start enjoying inclusive and affordable health care services in the state.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after his appointment by Yobe State governor Mai Mala Buni, the Executive Secretary said the agency covered all residents including employees in the public and private sectors, students, self-employed and even the unemployed.
Tijjani said the objectives of the agency was to ensure all residents of the state have access to qualitative and affordable health care, ensure equitable distribution of healthcare costs across different income groups, as well as protect families from financial hardships of huge medical bills.
He said contributory health care management agency prescribed package of healthcare services at uniform contribution.
He commended Governor Mai Mala Buni’s timely decision in setting up the agency.
He said with its establishment the state has access to N270 million accrued over six months from the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF).
He said the fund was sourced from the federal government one percent consolidated revenue fund grant from the International donors among other sources.
According to him the fund is meant to provide rapid attainment of Universal Health Coverage through improved access to affordable healthcare to the people and communities.
