- From Magaji Isa Hunkuyi, Jalingo

The Kuru-Kona Chiefdom, Augustine Njemang Venkam, has warned that ritualists and other criminals have no place in his chiefdom.

He told North-East Trust during an interview in his palace that as a leader he would not tolerate criminal elements in his chiefdom.

He said the arrest of five suspected ritualists in the area came as a surprise because such activities were strange among Kona people.

He said such criminal elements have no hiding place in his domains.

He warned parents to monitor activities of their children and wards in order to make them responsible people when they grow up.

“As leaders and parents we have a moral duty to guide our children and wards against getting involved in criminal activities and other forms of vices,” the Monarch said.

The Kuru Kona said he would always encourage peace and would not encourage lawlessness among youths in his domain.

He said he personally handed over the suspects to Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for proper investigation and arraignment of the suspects to court.

The Monarch, stated that no community could achieve development without peace, pointing out that he would continue to encourage peaceful coexistence among people residing in the

Chiefdom.

North-East Trust gathered that one of the suspects had lured a 10-yearold boy from Mayo-Dasa area into Kona town.

The suspects, however, attempted to kill the innocent boy for ritual but was rescued by some passersby and the suspects apprehended and taken to palace of the Kuru- Kona.

The boy, who was wounded by the suspects, was taken to Federal Medical Center Jalingo for treatment.

The state commandant of NSCDC, Alhaji Aliyu Ndanusa, paraded the five suspects and warned criminals to change their behavior and become responsible or face full wrath of the law.
