Trader remanded for allegedly threatenin­g to kill 10 villagers

- 3 suspected drug peddlers nabbed in Jigawa

A trader, Sani Musa, who allegedly threatened to kidnap and kill 10 villagers in Kano, has been remanded at a correction­al facility. Musa, who lives in Kiru Local Government Area of Kano, was charged before a Chief Magistrate Court in Kano on Friday on three counts of criminal intimidati­on, attempted culpable homicide and kidnapping.

Chief Magistrate Muhammad Jibril, who did not take the plea of Musa, ordered the police to return the case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutio­ns (DPP) for legal advice. Jibril adjourned the matter to February 17, for further mention. Earlier, the prosecutio­n counsel, Insp. Pogu Lale, told the court that the Community District Head and Elders of Dansoshiya Village, Kiru Local Government Area of Kano, reported the matter at the State Criminal Intelligen­ce Department (SCID) on October 21, 2019. The Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), says it has arrested three suspected drug peddlers in Dutse, the state capital.

The spokesman of the Corps, Mr Adamu Shehu, said in a statement on Saturday that the command also recovered illicit drugs and weapons from the suspects.

Shehu disclosed that suspects aged between 19 and 24 were arrested by members of the vigilante group at the Old Market area of Dutse on January 31.

He said the suspects and substances recovered were transferre­d to the command for investigat­ions.

Shehu listed the items to include: 260 pieces of narcotic; 28 pieces of rubber solution, 24 parcel of cannabis and some quantity of concoction.

Other items recovered include four cell phones, one catapult, a knife and N2, 125.

He said the suspects would soon be charge to court. (NAN)
