Re-fleeting: NCAT to save N75m on fuelling annually - Rector

The Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, Capt. Abdulsalam­i Mohammed, has said that the completion of the re-fleeting programme which will lead to replacemen­t of the institutio­n’s old aircraft would save it at least N75m annually on fuelling alone.

The rector told our correspond­ent exclusivel­y that the new aircraft would improve the college’s training efficiency as well as substantia­lly reduce its overhead cost.

He said: “We have in recent times deepened our focus on the most important aspect of our business – the customers we serve. Hence, our huge investment in technology to make banking easier and seamless, even as we introduce new offerings such as this Bumper Account, saving of about N75m.

“We hope to place the orders annually. Due to budgetary constraint­s, it may take 3-4 years to complete the orders’’, the NCAT CEO said.

According to available data on the re-fleeting programme, the $20 million programme will enable NCAT to acquire 15 Diamond DA40NG (single engine) and 5 DA42NG (twin engine) aircraft.

The Diamond aircraft meets with the College’s requiremen­ts for modern aircraft as they run on Jet A1 fuel and are equipped with Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS). Already the college has procured seven of the aircraft (one twin engine and six single engines). that will deliver improved value to stakeholde­rs. The banker explained that new and existing customers of the bank needed to ensure they have a minimum deposit of N5,000 in their UBA Bumper Account to qualify for draws.

In the first draw which was held live during the official launch in Lagos, a total of 100 customers emerged winners as Wande Coal entertaine­d guests with his famous hit songs to the delight of all. “From here on, lucky customers will win from N10,000 to N2 million each in the monthly, quarterly and targeted draws.

“No fewer than 50 account holders will get a whopping N2 million each across all participat­ing regions. This account is open to both existing and new customers of the bank who save a minimum of N5,000”, Anele assured.
