The Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo group has distanced itself from the call last week by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and accused him of working for Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo’s presidential ambition.

The Joint Research and Allied Institutions Sector Unions (JORAISU) chapter of the Scientific Equipment Development Institute (SEDI), Minna has vowed to shutdown the institute if the federal government reappoints the immediate-past Managing Director and Chief Executive, Professor Mohammed Baba Ndaliman.

The union, which comprises of Academic Staff of Research Institutes (ASURI) and NonAcademic Staff Union (NASU),

A statement signed by the groups’ Secretary General, Dimm Uche Okwukwu, said the senator was working against the interest of Ndi-Igbo for the presidential seat in 2023. “The Senator who represents Abia South Senatorial District at the Senate has lost touch with the aspirations of Ndi-Igbo having lost out in the power circle at the centre. said the congress at the end of its meeting passed vote of no confidence on the performance of Prof. Ndaliman. The communique issued at the end of its meeting in Minna on Tuesday, jointly signed by the Chairman ASURI, Engr. Ugwu Chinedu, and Chairman NASU, Ahmed Adamu said.“Any attempt to reappoint or impose in any guise, the immediate-past Managing Director/Chief Executive of SEDIMinna on the Institute will be totally resisted via all available industrial actions by the joint union and staff of the institute.”
