Gunmen said to be numbering about eight on Saturday stormed two communities on the outskirt of Suleja town, Niger State, killing one person and abducting three others.
The incident happened at Chaza and PDP quarters on Saturday night, our reporter gathered.
Some residents, who spoke to our reporter on Monday, said that the gunmen who stormed Chaza community around 9pm attempted unsuccessfully to kidnap one person in the community. The man they attempted to kidnap was said to have jumped out of his house when he noticed their arrival.
Leader of vigilante group in the area, Dantani Jarumai, told Daily Trust that two residents were shot by the attackers, while they were approaching the scene unaware about the development. He said one of them died instantly, while the second person who was shot in his hand, was taken to Suleja general hospital.
He said that, his team accompanied by some soldiers and policemen, drafted to the direction, following the gunshots; a development he said made the attackers to flee the area.
The vigilante leader added that, it was the next day that they received information that the gunmen also attacked the PDP quarters in a neighbouring community.
Our reporter gathered that in the second area, the gunmen kidnapped a civil servant, who works in Abuja, and also another woman and her teenage daughter, whose husband fled the house on the arrival of the attackers.
