NSCDC uncovers fake fertiliser factory in Zamfara
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Zamfara State has busted a fake fertiliser blending plant in Gusau, the state capital, the state’s commandant of the corps, Aliyu A. Garba, disclosed yesterday.
He said NSCDC personnel in the state raided the fake fertilizer factory and two suspected owners identified as Fahad Murtala Maibuhu and Saifullahi Murtala Maibuhu were apprehended.
“During the operation, 76 bags of sealed fertiliser and other unprocessed heavy sacks of fake fertiliser were recovered as exhibits. The factory was located in Unguwar Danbaba Tsunami area of Gusau metropolis,” he said.
The commandant appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and report persons or group of persons, or any manufacturing company dealing in or producing fertiliser suspected to be adulterated to security agencies.
He also advised farmers to endeavour to get full knowledge of the different brands of fertiliser products or deal directly with accredited companies or sales outlets to avoid falling prey to fraudsters who produced substandard products.
Meanwhile, the state command has arrested two suspected rapists identified as Abubakar Sani, 28, for raping a 4-year-old girl on two occasions in his room in Gummi Local Government Area.
Also, Kabiru Isyaku, 17, of Gada Biyu area in Gusau metropolis was arrested for defiling a 12-year-old boy, and would be charged to court after completion of investigation.
