AChief Magistrate Court in Kano yesterday restrained fifteen luxury bus owners from operating at New Road in Sabo Gari, and other locations in the state capital pending the hearing of a motion on notice.

The presiding Chief Magistrate, Rakiya Lami Sani said the restraining order followed an exparte application filed by counsel to Kano Roads and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Barrister Mutawakkil Isaq Muhammad, suspending the operations of 15 luxury bus owners.

The court ordered the commissioner of police to seal up the luxury buses motor parks located at New Road in Sabo Gari, and any other terminal of the defendants for failing to comply with the instruction to relocate from Sabon Gari to Unguwa Uku Motor Park, a new place provided for them to operate.

The presiding magistrate also restrained the luxurious buses companies from carrying out any commercial activities across the state pending the determination of a motion on notice before it.

Chief Magistrate Rakiya Lami Sani then adjourned the matter to September 14th for determination of the motion on notice.

The Managing Director, KAROTA, Hon. Baffa Babba Dan’agundi, in a statement, said:

“Despite not obtaining a permit to operate in the state, the agency allowed the bus owners to relocate to the new park to continue their businesses but they decided to disobey the agency’s order, which necessitated the legal move to avoid further crisis.”
