Mouka records positive sales result

- From Abdullateef Aliyu, Lagos

Mouka, the frontline company in the manufacturing of mattresses and beddings in Nigeria, said yesterday that its sales have been very robust despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chief Executive Officer of the Company, Raymond Murphy attributed this to its “national capabilities and large distribution network.”

He disclosed this at a virtual session yesterday where he highlighted the activities of the firm during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Murphy said except in April when its sales were affected due to the lockdown, the sales have been largely robust.

He also assured that the company has no plan to lay off any staff but to increase the staff in some areas of its operations.

He said the firm has been able to adapt to the changes in the market. “We need to be very adaptable to the circumstances in the market,” he said.

He assured that the firm would invest in Research and Development in the current financial year, saying N75m has been set aside.

He stated that the firm invested in the welfare of its employees during the lockdown and collaborated with the Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy to support quality sleep as one of the safeguards against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Head of Marketing for Mouka, Tolu Olanipekun, explained that the firm embarked on several projects during the COVID-19 pandemic to keep the consumers fit, sharp and engaged.

“We remain dynamic and responsive to the needs and preferences of our consumers,” she said.
