Agency trains rural women in production of sanitisers, disinfectants
Abuja Enterprise Agency (AEA) has trained over 100 women in the Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in its renewed commitment towards impacting on the lives of rural entrepreneurs and support for MSMEs to create jobs amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
The two weeks’ skill acquisition/ entrepreneurship training with the theme ‘Samar da Dama’ (Hausa, meaning creating opportunity), had over 50 persons each from Gwagwalada and Bwari area councils who were trained in the production of hand sanitisers, disinfectants, hand wash and liquid soaps.
The Managing Director/CEO of the AEA, Dr Arabi Muhammad Tukur, in his opening remarks at the training, conveyed by the Deputy General Manager, Malam Shehu Abdulkadir, harped on the need for rural community development, adding that the rural community holds the larger share of the economy of the country, a statement from the agency said.
It also quoted the MD/CEO as saying that it was hard to raise huge capital to start a business, thus the need to encourage startups to start small and support their growth through access to market.
“At the end of the training, the AEA will give startup grants to each participant to enable them to launch their business ventures,” he said.
The Special Adviser to the President on Community Engagement/Civic Intervention, Mrs Onaolapo Olatoyosi, congratulated the participants and urged them to pass the knowledge they gained to other women in their communities
The Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, represented by the Supervisory Councilor for Education, Mr Hassan Loko, thanked the agency for bringing such developmental opportunity to the people of Gwagwalada and other area councils.
One of the participants, Regina Enoch, thanked the agency for the opportunity provided to them.
