Election petition left me frustrated for a year Kwali chair
The Chairman of Kwali Area Council, Mr Danladi Chiya, has said the election petition filed against him by his opponent over his victory in the 2019 chairmanship council poll in the area frustrated him for one year in office.
Chiya, remarked at a thanksgiving service held at ECWA Church, Kwali on Sunday, that the last one year of his administration was traumatic because of the election petition filed against him by his opponent, Daniel Ibrahim, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He said overcoming the traumatic experience after winning the cases from the tribunal to the Appeal Court, prompted him to hold the thanksgiving service to appreciate God and to let the people of the area council know that he truly won the 2019 chairmanship election in the area.
The chairman appreciated the traditional rulers, stakeholders, APC as well as the entire residents of the council for their support and prayers which saw him overcome the challenges he faced over a year ago.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Alhaji Adamu Mustapha, noted that the traumatic experience of his counterpart over the election petition was a test of maturity which in turn has proven that he was qualified to pilot the affairs of the council.
“In fact, I am also a victim of election petition during my first tenure but today, all is now history, and I give thanks to God,” he said.
Earlier in his sermon, the senior pastor of ECWA Kwali, Rev. Samson Wokili, said God gives power to whom he wishes at any appointed time, and called on politicians to accept defeat in good faith in every election.
He also advised the council chairman to embrace and carry everyone along, saying the chairman would only succeed when he carries everyone along in his administration.
