Fanfare as new Emir of Rano is honoured

Hundreds of well-wishers at the weekend converged at the palace of the Emir of Rano to honour the newly appointed Emir Alhaji Kabir Muhammad Inuwa over his assumption to the throne.

A retired immigration officer, Inuwa became the Emir of Rano, one of the four newly created emirates by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in May, following the death of the former emir, Alhaji Tafida Abubakar Ila.

Among those that graced the occasion was the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede, the former acting Comptroller General of the service and one of the current village heads in the emirate, the emir of Kibiya, Senator U.K. Umar, immigration Comptrollers of Kano and Jigawa states, the commandant of Immigration Training School, Kano.

Speaking at the occasion, Babandede described the emir as a humble and accommodating man who always had his people in mind.

“To me, I see this visit as homecoming. As the Comptroller General of the service it is my honour to see one of our retired officers holding this very important title in Kano state, so I come here to join them in the celebration,” said Babandede.

The emir of Kibiya, Senator U.K Umar, said he was proud to see Alhaji Kabir as the new emir recalling that he was one of the panelists who recruited him into the service.

“This is a well-deserved honour to one of our own,” he said.

He called on youths to emulate the selfless service of the emir.

Responding, the emir described the occasion as historic and heart touching and thanked them for maintaining a cordial relationship with the emirate.
