Osun residents get free eye treatment
No fewer than 50 persons in Osun State have received free eye treatment, got eye glasses and eye drugs as part of activities marking the World Sight Day.
The gesture was facilitated by a non-profit organization, Community Advancement Initiative for Self Reliance (CAI4SR) in collaboration with Essilor-Vision for Life.
The Optometrist engaged by the NGO conducted free vision screening on the beneficiaries under strict compliance with COVD-19 protocol and they were given free reading glasses and drugs.
The Executive Director of (CAI4SR), Mrs Eni Ayeni said the 2020 World Sight Day tagged ’Hope in Sight’ offered the opportunity to assist indigent residents of Osun who have sight challenges.
The beneficiaries undergo visual acuity testing after which those who needed to be refracted were sent to the Optometrist for refraction with the aid of the auto refractor donated by EssilorVision for Life.
Ayeni said “Free reading glasses were given to people of all age categories as required.
In all, the total of 54 free spectacles were dispensed out of whom 41 were female and 14 were male.
“Beneficiaries presented with varying eye defects out of which 36 were presbyopia and others were hyperopia, myopia and the likes,” he said.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to CAI4SR and Essilor for the kind gestures.
