Police rescue 3 pregnant women, 2 kids from baby factory in C/River

Police operatives rescued three pregnant women and two children from a baby making factory at the residence of one Madam Ima-Obong Asuquo in Obot Udonna village in Akamkpa LGA of Cross River State on Wednesday morning.

The Commission­er of Police in the state, Abdulkadir Jimoh, in a statement, confirmed the discovery of the baby making factory, saying the rescue operation took place at about 04:00am on Wednesday following credible intelligen­ce.

The CP said the pregnant women: Blessing Francis, 19, Blessing Okon, 19 and Blessing Solomon, 21, were rescued during the operation by his men.

CP Jimoh also confirmed that two babies, Bright Solomon, 2-year old girl and Michael Etim, a seven-yearold boy, were also rescued.

He said Madam Ima-Obong Asuquo, the prime suspect, had confessed to the crime, adding that she had sold three new babies already at N500,000 each.

He explained that the police discovered that one other woman, simply identified as Iquo, of Technical Junction, Calabar, was an accomplice of the suspect.

He said, “Both are in our custody and investigat­ion is in progress. One Mr. Solomon Christophe­r, a witness, has also made a recorded statement.”
