Po­lice res­cue 3 preg­nant women, 2 kids from baby fac­tory in C/River

Po­lice op­er­a­tives res­cued three preg­nant women and two chil­dren from a baby mak­ing fac­tory at the res­i­dence of one Madam Ima-Obong Asuquo in Obot Udonna vil­lage in Akamkpa LGA of Cross River State on Wed­nes­day morn­ing.

The Com­mis­sioner of Po­lice in the state, Ab­dulka­dir Ji­moh, in a state­ment, con­firmed the dis­cov­ery of the baby mak­ing fac­tory, say­ing the res­cue op­er­a­tion took place at about 04:00am on Wed­nes­day fol­low­ing cred­i­ble in­tel­li­gence.

The CP said the preg­nant women: Bless­ing Fran­cis, 19, Bless­ing Okon, 19 and Bless­ing Solomon, 21, were res­cued dur­ing the op­er­a­tion by his men.

CP Ji­moh also con­firmed that two ba­bies, Bright Solomon, 2-year old girl and Michael Etim, a seven-yearold boy, were also res­cued.

He said Madam Ima-Obong Asuquo, the prime sus­pect, had con­fessed to the crime, adding that she had sold three new ba­bies al­ready at N500,000 each.

He ex­plained that the po­lice dis­cov­ered that one other woman, sim­ply iden­ti­fied as Iquo, of Tech­ni­cal Junc­tion, Cal­abar, was an ac­com­plice of the sus­pect.

He said, “Both are in our cus­tody and in­ves­ti­ga­tion is in progress. One Mr. Solomon Christo­pher, a wit­ness, has also made a recorded state­ment.”
