The All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker/ Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee led by Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has started scheming to secure tenure extension, our correspondent gathered.

The interim panel on Wednesday, met with the 36 states and the FCT chairmen of the APC who are also members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), in Abuja.

Impeccable sources at the APC National Secretariat, Abuja told our correspondent that the committee was also planning to meet with other stakeholders of the party.

NEC had in June, 2020, dissolved the Adams Oshiomhole led National Working Committee (NWC) and constituted the Buni-led Caretaker Committee to administer the affairs of the party and within six months organise a national convention where a new crop of

NWC members would emerge.

The Forum of APC Chairmen led by Borno State Chairman, Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori on Wednesday, passed a unanimous vote of confidence on the caretaker committee.

Dalori condemned a 14-day ultimatum given to the committee by a group known as Concerned APC Members, a few days ago.

The Delta State Chairman of the party, Prophet Jones Ode Erue, in an interview with newsmen after the meeting, said nothing was wrong about extending the tenure

of the caretaker committee.

"What is wrong for a good thing to be sustained or support a good thing to stay? Call it rumour or real, we are in support of the committee and in support of the unity of our party. Anything that will bring unity to our party, we are in support of it," he said.

Addressing the forum earlier, governor Buni, urged the state chairmen to prevail on members in their domain to withdraw all litigations from the court.

Contacted, the spokesperson of Governor Buni, Mamman Mohammed, denied the report that his boss was scheming for tenure extension.

He said during his boss meeting with the state party chairmen, the issue of tenure extension was not discussed.

“My principal did not mentioned anything about tenure. All he said was about the journey so far since he took over the affairs of the party. It was a sort of stock taking meeting,” he said in a phone interview.
