NSCDC pa­rades 16 oil van­dals in Rivers

The Rivers State Com­mand of the Nige­ria Se­cu­rity and Civil De­fense Corps (NSCDC), on Thurs­day, pa­raded 16 sus­pects in­volved in il­le­gal di­ver­sion of stolen pe­tro­leum prod­ucts.

Parad­ing the sus­pects at the com­mand’s head­quar­ters in Port Har­court, the state Com­man­dant of NSCDC, Muk­tar Lawal, said, “To­day the com­mand is parad­ing 16 sus­pected oil thieves, three trucks, one with 48,000 litres of sus­pected crude oil, while two con­tain un­quan­tifi­able il­le­gally re­fined AGO loaded in sacks, four buses, a Volk­swa­gen Jetta car loaded with van­dalised elec­tri­cal ar­moured ca­bles, 27 jerry cans, a mo­tor­bike used for acts of van­dal­ism, 58 drums filled with sus­pected adul­ter­ated pe­tro­leum prod­ucts, four pipes and two drums spe­cially con­structed for stor­ing il­le­gally re­fined prod­ucts.”

He fur­ther said the com­mand also ar­rested one Prom­ise Nnanta for parad­ing him­self as a per­son­nel of NSCDC and at­tempt­ing to ob­tain N120,000 un­der false pre­tense.

He, there­fore, warned those in­volved in il­le­gal oil bunker­ing to de­sist from do­ing so or face the full wrath of law.
