- From Victor Edozie, Port Harcourt

The Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), on Thursday, paraded 16 suspects involved in illegal diversion of stolen petroleum products.

Parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, the state Commandant of NSCDC, Muktar Lawal, said, “Today the command is parading 16 suspected oil thieves, three trucks, one with 48,000 litres of suspected crude oil, while two contain unquantifiable illegally refined AGO loaded in sacks, four buses, a Volkswagen Jetta car loaded with vandalised electrical armoured cables, 27 jerry cans, a motorbike used for acts of vandalism, 58 drums filled with suspected adulterated petroleum products, four pipes and two drums specially constructed for storing illegally refined products.”

He further said the command also arrested one Promise Nnanta for parading himself as a personnel of NSCDC and attempting to obtain N120,000 under false pretense.

He, therefore, warned those involved in illegal oil bunkering to desist from doing so or face the full wrath of law.
